Mountain Meadows Massacre 9.11.1857

Please let it be known that I am not a hater.  I have love in my heart for all. Since I have been a small boy I have heard from my family of the tragedy known as the mountain meadow massacre.  I am a direct descendant to 29 of the victims that lost their lives on Sept. 11th 1857 at the hands of the Mormon Church.  My Grandfather Sam Fancher (the auctioneer) along with my Mother Sammie Fancher Wyatt, My Great Uncles and Cousins were all in attendance in 1999 for the memorial at mountain meadows as paid for by the LDS church.  It was an appreciated jester by the Church. The Mormon leaders have wished this matter would just go away,  But after 149 years this matter seems to be gaining notoriety through books, newspaper articles, Television and Movies. The descendants wish to have the site of the massacre managed by the Federal Government and not under the control of the LDS Church.  The descendants also wish for all funeral objects be returned to the grave site as loaned out by the LDS Church to different museums  The LDS Church has apologized for the massacre but refuses to have the church as it was in 1857 be held for any blame in this massacre,  This would also be the denial of any profits or tithing from the profits from the personal property and livestock from this wagon train.  It has been documented that the LDS Bishop from Cedar City sold all of my family’s cattle and used the ill-gotten profits to start a mercantile store in Cedar City after the massacre.

It has been told generation after generation that the Mormons were responsible for this bloody massacre that took the lives of 120 men, women and children.  Again, I am a direct descendant of 29 of the victims,  I am looking for closure and believe that one day the leaders of the LDS Church will own the blame and profit taking from this massacre.

I have put this link page together to provide the most information from both sides.  I believe that there will be a day when the leaders of the LDS church take the responsibility and blame where it belongs, with the leadership of the LDS church of 1857.

The truth will set us all free and will allow the LDS church to cleanse its past and begin new again.  This may take another 150 years but I am willing to pass on the torch. Once again the descendents want the memorial site to be under federal stewardship and history to be written correctly.  There are over 1 million descendents from the John D. Lee family that have suffered from this tragedy also.  There are generations of Indians that have been unjustly and solely blamed for this massacre.  It is time for truth so the healing can begin.  There are several different groups representing the victims of this massacre.  I am involved in the mountain meadows monument foundation, We supply libraries, Memorials for the 17 survivors and memorials for the 120 men, women and children that were slain Sept. 7th through Sept 11th. 1857.  There are a number of books available.  If you would like to add a link please contact me as I would welcome the additional information. The MMMF is open for membership to all. There were families on the wagon train that had no descendants, we can all stand together for them also.
